The chosen top cops have been assigned batches based on their seniority. Thus a total number of 2014 and 2016 batches are being issued.
In a recent development, the central government has allotted batches to nine officers of the Chhattisgarh Police Service. These police officers have been awarded the Indian Police Service (IPS) rank through the batches.
