A chargesheet has been filed against former IAS officer Sanjay Gupta and 10 others in connection with the Rs 113-crore MEGA scam. Gupta was appointed as the executive chairman of stateowned Metrolink Express for Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad (MEGA) project in 2011.He resigned in August 2013.
Later the government found some financial irregularities during his tenure and MEGA CEO Rajesh Mehta lodged a complaint with CID Crime on April 1. CID arrested Gupta on May 14. It is alleged in complaint that Gupta and six others allegedly siphoned off Rs 113 crore through forged bills. It is alleged that when Gupta was heading the PSU, the company made payments for materials which never arrived.The charge sheet filed by CID (Crime) on includes statements of 100 witnesses and more than 200 documentary evidence.
