Senior most serving officer in Army, Lt. Gen. Dalbir Singh Suhag who is currently the Vice Chief of Army Staff is being likely to join as next Army Chief, when Gen. Bikram Singh retires on 31 July. As per the tradition, a new service Chief is usually named two to three months in advance, with the duration ranging from 58 to 89 days over the years.
