Two Bihar IPS officers have been deputed to Central Government whereas IAS Harjot Kaur Bamhra takes charge as ACS, Environment.
In a key administrative move, two senior IPS officers from the Bihar cadre—Mr. Sushil Mansingh Khopde (1995 batch) and Mr. Shalin (2001 batch)—have been relieved from their current roles and posted on central deputation. The Department of Home Affairs has issued formal notifications, transferring their services to the Government of India.
Mr. Khopde, who previously served as Additional Director General (ADG) of Prohibition, has been appointed as Additional Director General (Joint Secretary level) in the Directorate General of Shipping under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways. He will serve in this role until further orders or until his retirement on September 30, 2029.
Mr. Shalin, formerly Inspector General (IG) of the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) and holding additional responsibility as IG (Security), has been deputed to the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), where he will serve as IG.
In another significant development, Ms. Harjot Kaur Bamhra, a 1992-batch IAS officer, has assumed charge as the Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) of the Environment, Forest and Climate Change Department. She was warmly received by senior officials at Aranya Bhavan on her arrival.
Following her appointment, a departmental review meeting was held, where forest officials briefed her on ongoing initiatives and project plans. Ms. Bamhra directed the team to accelerate recruitment for vacant positions and explore the creation of new posts based on operational requirements. She also stressed the importance of strengthening eco-development committees, joint forest management committees, and reinforcing forest boundary protections for sustainable environmental governance.
