Bihar Government has extended IPS officer Aditya Kumar’s suspension by another six months.

The Bihar government has extended the suspension of IPS officer Aditya Kumar, a 2011-batch officer, for an additional six months, now effective until October 2.

Mr. Kumar was originally suspended in October 2022 after the Economic Offences Unit (EOU) filed an FIR against him, accusing him of impersonating a high court judge to make fake calls to the Director General of Police (DGP). Since then, his suspension has been reviewed and extended five times.

He was lodged in Beur Jail from December 5, 2023, to April 25, 2024, after surrendering when the Supreme Court dismissed his anticipatory bail plea. Following his release on bail, he reported back to headquarters. However, with criminal proceedings still underway, the Home Department has issued fresh orders to continue his suspension.
