IAS officer Armstrong Pame, a 2009-batch officer from the Manipur cadre, has been appointed as Joint Secretary in the Department of Higher Education under the Ministry of Education on Central Deputation. His tenure, at Level 14 of the Pay Matrix, will last for five years until April 17, 2027.
Before this appointment, Mr. Pame served as Director – School Education & Literacy in the Ministry of Education, where he played a key role in strengthening foundational education and promoting literacy initiatives across the country.
His past experience in the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting includes:

Director – Focused on public communication and national media policies.

Deputy Secretary – Led strategic initiatives in public administration and media outreach.
With extensive expertise in education policy, governance, and rural development, Mr. Pame is expected to contribute significantly to higher education reforms at the national level.
