The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is being impleaded as a party in the appointment of IPS officer Archana Ramasundaram as Additional Director, the agency is now preparing to ask the apex court to review the selection procedure for senior level appointments by making a change in the CVC Act.
According to the new act if a person was being appointed, the agency director should have a say in it but this was not acceptable before this amendment in the act.
The CBI was impleaded in the case on 9 May on the request of Solicitor General Mohan Parasaran, who was appearing on behalf of the government in a matter related to appointment of Ramasundaram, a 1980 IPS batch officer of Tamil Nadu cadre, as additional director.
