Himachal Pradesh High Court’s order about shifting of DGP Sanjay Kundu, has been stayed by Supreme Court.
Sanjay Kundu’s transfer now will be on hold as long as the High Court does not decide the IPS officer’s application. Kundu has been transferred as principal secretary in the Ayush department but now he has to wait until the final decision of the state HC comes to the fore.
Today the apex Court came up with the stay on Himachal Pradesh high court order which ordered the state government to shift DGP Sanjay Kundu. The order had come to the fore in the wake of a complaint by a Palampur businessman. The officer got an opportunity to be heard ahead of the ‘adverse’ directive issued against him.
A bench led by Chief Justice of India Dhananjaya Y Chandrachud asked the high court to decide Kundu’s plea for a recall of the December 26 order. The HC is instructed to get it done within two weeks.
The CJI says that Kundu’s transfer as the Ayush department principal secretary shall also remain stayed until the high court decides Sanjay Kundu’s application.
