Anil Wadhwa,Secretary (East) in the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to Italy.Wadhwa, a 1979-batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer, is expected to take up his assignment shortly.He has served as the Indian Ambassador to Poland from March 2004 to August 2007; to Oman from August 2007 to September 2011; and to Thailand from November 2011 to January 2014.
