Andhra Pradesh Government initiates disciplinary action against senior IPS officer PV Sunil Kumar.
The Andhra Pradesh government has launched disciplinary proceedings against senior IPS officer P.V. Sunil Kumar, former Director General of the State Disaster Response and Fire Services, who is currently under suspension. The action is being taken under Rule 8 of the All India Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1969.
This move comes shortly after the high-profile arrest of another senior IPS officer, P.S.R. Anjaneyulu, in connection with a harassment case involving Mumbai-based actress Kadambari Jethwani. However, the allegations against Mr. Sunil Kumar pertain to separate charges of misconduct and misbehaviour.
According to Government Order RT No. 763, issued by Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand, Mr. Sunil Kumar is accused of undertaking several foreign trips that deviated from the approved itinerary, and of traveling abroad without prior government approval on multiple occasions.
The order instructs the officer to submit a written statement of defence within 30 days and to indicate whether he wishes to be heard in person. The notice also clarifies that an inquiry will be conducted only for the charges that are not admitted.
“Each allegation must be specifically admitted or denied,” the G.O. states, adding that failure to respond in time will be considered an admission of guilt, and proceedings will continue accordingly.
This action represents a firm stance by the Andhra Pradesh government to reinforce discipline and accountability within the state’s civil services.
