The Uttar Pradesh government has suspended senior IPS officer Amitabh Thakur, who has filed a case against Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav for allegedly threatening him. Thakur has been suspended for violating service rules with immediate effect.
Amitabh Thakur, who is an IG-rank officer, met Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) Anant Kumar Singh in Delhi and requested central force protection for himself and his wife and social activist Nutan Thakur. The police officer claimed that he is being threatened by the Samajwadi Party chief.
