It is Chandigarh Administrator who is known for a principled administrative officer. And justifying his image, the Administrator has appealed Home Minister for appointing Advisor.
Banwarilal Purohit, Administrator, Chandigarh has made an earnest appeal to appoint an advisor. He made this appeal to Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
For around two months the post of Administrator has been lying vacant. Earlier Indian Administrative Service officer, Dharam Pal (AGMUT) was working on this position. Since 01 November 2023 after he hanged his boots on October 31 there was an officer needed for the smooth running of the office. As for now, the coveted post is being run under ad hoc arrangement.
The post of Adviser to Administrator, Chandigarh is considered among few most powerful positions parallel to the rank of Additional Secretary and this is why, this position is commonly known as Chief Secretary, Chandigarh.
