The 1985 batch IAS officer of Andhara Pradesh cadre, Sutirtha Bhattacharya has been selected as Chairman & Managing Director, Coal India Limited (CIL). Bhattacharya was serving as Chairman of Telangana based Singareni Colleries Co Ltd (SCCL). S. Bhattacharya succeeds S Narsing Rao(IAS, AP:86), Rao had resigned from the coal PSU in May. As many as 12 persons were interviewed for the same post.
