Surat Airport director S D Sharma has been transferred by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) to Assam’s Lilabari airport with immediate effective following a collision last Thursday between a SpiceJet flight and a buffalo which had wandered on to the runway. Pramod Kumar Thakre, airport director, Bhavnagar, will take charge of Surat Airport.Surat Airport serves one Air India flight and two SpiceJet aircraft a day. Lilabari, according to the AAI, receives none.
