IPS Abdur Rehman seeks High Court review after his VRS denial, he wants To contest elections.
A 47-year-old IPS officer Abdur Rehman hails from the Maharashtra cadre. Rehman applied for voluntary retirement in order to contest from the Dhule Lok Sabha seat under the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) party.
Rehman has petitioned the Bombay High Court in this regard. This action follows a December 2023 ruling which was from the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT). This ruling upheld the Union home ministry’s October 2019 decision to refuse his retirement request.
Despite tribunal’s agreement with the decision of Home Ministry decision, IPS Rehman is also appealing for the High Court’s intervention so that to expedite his voluntary retirement process could be expedite. This is how he wants to clear his path to participate in the elections.
