Odisha High Court has dissolved the CAT’s contentious order which was regarding promotion of an Odisha civil servant.
The observation of the Odisha High Court on the matter has been inspired by a Supreme Court’s ruling. This was a landmark ruling by the top court which reads – “No employee has a right to be promoted but has a right to be considered for promotion!”
Based on this, the High Court of Odisha has dissolved an order by the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) which was related to the promotion of a retired state civil service officer, Gadadhar Parida into the Indian Administrative Service in light of the unfinished vigilance cases within the authority of the concerned officer.
