In a bid to ascertain administrative responsibilities ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, several DMs, SPs and SSPs have been transferred by EC across India.
This decision was taken after a recent meeting convened by the CEC Rajiv Kumar and newly appointed Election Commissioners, Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Gyanesh Kumar.
The names in the list of the transferred SPs and SSPs include the SPs of Chhota Udaipur and Ahmedabad Rural in Gujarat, Jalandhar Rural and Makerkotla in Punjab and SSPs of Pathankot, Fazilka, SP of Deogarh and Cuttack (Rural) in Odisha and the DM of Dhenkanal. The DMs of Birbhum in West Bengal and Purba Medinipur, Jhargram, Purba Bardhaman.
The Commission transferred Sonitpur SP and Bathinda SSP, Harmanbir Singh Gill for their kinship with regional politicians.
