West Bengal has witnessed three Director General of Police in three days. Now IPS Sanjay Mukherjee is the new DGP of the state.
The Election Commission of India again on Tuesday has appointed IPS officer Sanjay Mukherjee on the position of the new state Director General of Police (DGP) in West Bengal. Year 1989 batch of IPS officer Sanjay Mukherjee is from West Bengal cadre itself.
The EC had issued an order to remove year 1989 batch IPS officer of West Bengal cadre Rajeev Kumar from the DG position. Then the next day on On Monday, the poll panel had appointed year 1988 batch IPS officer of the West Bengal, Vivek Sahay as the next DGP.
Now finally yesterday on Tuesday, the authority has decided to go with Mukherjee, as per the new notification.
Writing to the Chief Secretary of West Bengal, the poll body says: “The name of IPS Sanjay Mukherjee has been finalized for the post of Director General and Inspector General of Police, West Bengal. The immediate compliance and confirmation of the same is expected latest by 5 pm today.”
