Rajasthan MP, Om Birla has been elected as new Speaker of Lok Sabha, he succeeds eight time MP, Sumitra Mahajan. Om Birla’s name was proposed by Prime Minister himself for the post. The 56-year-old leader is considered to be close to both Modi and Amit Shah. He won his first Lok Sabha election in 2014 and again elected this year from Kota-Bundi seat.
