Sant Kabir Nagar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday attacked opposition parties, stating that some parties are trying to create differences among people for their “own political gains” but they are cut off from ground realities.
“Some parties don’t want peace and development. They think if there will be unrest, they will benefit politically but these people are cut off from roots and don’t know the nature of the nation of Sant Kabir, Mahatma Gandhi and Baba Ambedkar,” PM Modi said, while addressing a rally here.
He said those who imposed Emergency and those opposed it have come together.
Taking a swipe at the Smajwadi Party and the Bahujan Party, the Prime Minister said,
“those who always talk of ‘samajwad’ and ‘bahujan’ are extremely selfish. They don’t see the welfare of society but only the welfare of themselves and their families”.
He took a dig at former UP CM Akhilesh Yadav over the bungalow row, says leaders are worried about their own bungalows but not about shelter for poor people. People who claim to follow Kabir are worried more about their big bungalows.
He said his government is working to uplift poor, underprivileged people.
“We are committed to empower poor people and for that schemes like Jan Dhan Yojana and others have started,” the PM said.
Raising the issue of Triple Talaq for which bill has been passed by the Lok Sabha but is pending before the Rajya Sabha because the ruling dispensation lacks number to pass it, he said opposition parties are creating hurdles in the passage of the bill.
“You all have seen that these people are creating hurdles in passage of Triple Talaq Bill in Parliament. They don’t want the society to progress, they are insensitive towards the pain of our mothers and sisters,” Modi said.
Eulogizing the efforts of saints like Kabir towards the society, he said, “Sant Kabir broke the shackles of caste system in India. It was due to efforts of such great saints that India continued to progress despite facing several challenges.”
He further said, “Kabir is revered for his deeds. He left a great treasure of humanity for the whole mankind. He came as a thought and became a way of life.”
