Lalu granted parole, will attend son Tej Pratap’s marriage in Patna

Ranchi:Incarcerated ex-Bihar Chief Minister and RJD supremo Lalu Prasad on Wednesday was granted parole for five days to attend his elder son Tej Pratap Yadav’s marriage later this week. Lalu is likely to be in Bihar’s capital between May 10 and May 14.
Tej Pratap who had been Health Minister in Bihar’s Nitish Kumar government, will be marrying Aishwarya Rai, daughter of RJD MLA Chandrika Rai on May 12 in Patna. The RJD chief could not attend his son’s engagement ceremony in Patna on April 18.
On Tuesday, his application for parole was sent to Jharkhand Jail IG, said Lalu’s one of associates.
Lalu, who is currently admitted in Rajendra Institute of Medical Science in Ranchi, has been convicted in four fodder scam cases by a special CBI court. The RJD chief was recently shifted from AIIMS Delhi to Ranchi after doctors there declared him fit to travel. Lalu’s efforts to continue his treatment ended in disappointment. He alleged there was a “political conspiracy” behind his discharge from AIIMS.
