Mumbai: Finance Department’s additional Chief Secretary Dinesh Kumar Jain will become the new chief secretary of Maharashtra, taking over charge from Sumit Mullick.
Medha Gadgil, ACS (Relief and Rehabilitation), Sudhir Shrivastava ACS (Home), Sunil Porwal, ACS (Industries), and UPS Madan, Additional chief secretary and Metropolitan commissioner are the four senior most bureaucrat who were claimant of the chief secretary post. All these bureaucrats are from the 1983 batch of Indian Administrative Services (IAS). But Dinesh Kumar Jain was selected by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
Jain, an IAS officer of the 1983 batch, will retire on 31 January, 2019.
According to the sources, Mullick will be the Chief Information Commissioner.
