Bijapur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched the first healthcare and wellness centre under Ayushman Bharat Yojna here. On this occasion, the Prime Minister also gifted a pair of slippers to a tribal old woman.
Speaking on this occasion, Modi said, “the Ayushman Bharat scheme is not limited to simply providing a service, but also invokes public participation so that we can create a healthy, capable and contented new India. Modi was the first Indian Prime Minister to land in tribal dominated Bijapur.
He stressed for public awareness about the scheme, which has twin aims-first, create a network of health and wellness centres to deliver comprehensive primary healthcare close to the areas of poor and vulnerable people; second, provide an insurance cover to 40 percent of the country’s population for secondary and tertiary care. Under the scheme, each family per year will be provided with a cover of Rs 5 lakh for secondary and tertiary care hospitalization.
During his Chhattisgarh visit, which is the 4th since May 2015, the Prime Minister inaugurated a new rail line and a passenger train between Gudum and Bhanupratappur. He also launched village BPO centres in seven districts of the state.
