New Delhi: National Security Advisor Ajit Doval made a two-day visit to China from 12-13 April to hold talks with Chinese leaders.
According to a statement from the Ministry of External Affairs, NSA Doval visited Shanghai in the course of his trip to China and held talks with Politbureau member and Director of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee Yang Jiechi.
“The visit was part of regular high-level engagements between India and China. The discussions covered a wide agenda spanning bilateral, regional and international issues of mutual interest. The two sides agreed to maintain the pace of high-level exchanges, with a view to fully realize the potential of closer development partnership between India and China,” the statement said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting China in June to attend Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, a China-dominated security grouping which is seen as a counterweight to NATO. The SCO summit is due to be held in the Chinese city of Qingdao from 9-10 June.
