Impeachment against CJI Dipak Misra still open : Congress

New Delhi : The Congress on Thursday said impeachment motion against Supreme Court Chief Justice Dipak Misra was still an open option.
Talking to reporters, Congress leader and senior Supreme Court lawyer Kapil Sibal said: “We are very concerned about what is happening. The issues which were raised by four SC judges, have not been addressed yet. The option which is available to us is still open.”
When he was asked why the motion was not moved during the just concluded budget session of Parliament, he said: “This is not instant coffee. We are dealing with an institution. It will be a sad thing if the opposition parties have to take the step. We have to take the step with a very heavy heart but that doesn’t mean that option is foreclosed. This is a very serious matter.”
Earlier, difference within the Congress and reservation from the TMC, the BJD and other parties had thrown waters on the opposition parties move to bring impeachment motion against the Chief Justice of India.
