It was almost 15 days before when UP government had decided to appoint OP Singh, IPS officer, Uttar Pradesh cadre 1983 batch who is presently posted as DG, CISF Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India as new DGP of state, a letter had also been sent to centre to relieve him to join his new assignment. Till then ADG LO Mr Anand Kumar will hold the charge of DGP.
But ironically Mr OP Singh hasn’t yet received any appointment letter. The matter is on hold. It seems a lot of confusions are taking place regarding this as it is believed the Home Minister, Rajnath Singh is supportive of this decision, which on the other hand seems unlikely for Uttar Pradesh’s Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath as he has his cards to unfold.
On the other hand, there are different lobbies that are playing a major role on the other side. The trigonometry of DGP Uttar Pradesh, having Home Minister-UP CM-other lobbies forming all the sides of a sealed triangle, and OP Singh being in the centre, has become stagnant, congested and politically spicy too. This has now become a much discussed topic in the bureaucratic corridors as everyone is pondering how is this to be broken. Who will have to compromise and get dipped in this political curry? Who will emerge as a crunch over the soup? And, how will, whatever happens, justify the stature of OP Singh?
In my view next two days are really crucial as CM Yogi has to take a call now. If we talk about other contenders, 1982 batch IPS Praveen Singh, and 1987 batch IPS presently posted as DG Intelligence Bhawesh singh have bright chance!!
