Akhilesh Yadav has been elected the President of Samajwadi party for next five years. Making this announcement, at the national party executive meeting, general secretary Ram Gopal Yadav, on Thursday in the Taj city, said that the election of Akhilesh was unanimous. The SP also proposed to effect some changes in the party constitution extending the tenure of President from three years to fine years.

Akhilesh Yadav, starting his addressa with a message from his father Mulayam singh yadav, said that Netaji has blessed the party and its leaders over phone as he was unable to attend the meet.
