Perhaps it is first in history that any CBDT Chairman has been reappointed. Senior Indian Revenue officer, Sushil Chandra has been reappointed as Chairman in the Central Board of Direct Taxes(CBDT), the apex policy making body for the Income Tax department. Chandra, a 1980 batch officer of Indian Revenue Service (Income Tax cadre) given an extension for the period of one year from 1 June 2017 to 31 May 2018. An IIT graduate Sushil Chandra was also the Member (Investigation) of the CBDT before appointing at the post of Chairman in CBDT last year.
