Congress leader Deepender Singh Hooda raised the issue of farmer Gajendra Singh’s suicide. “Many questions come up because of this incident. Why didn’t we stop this tragedy from happening? Introspection needs to be done, why wasnt the farmer stopped? Why did the police not come forward?”
“We are humans first, politicians, journalists second. Even children saw these horrific images,” Hooda said. “Media should have been more humane too. When the farmer threw his suicide note, there was a run to grab it first.”
Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad raised the issue of farmer Gajendra Singh’s suicide in the Rajya Sabha and clamed the central and Delhi government for the incident. “In Haryana and Rajasthan also, farmer suicides are also taking place. In states where farmer suicides never took place, such incidents are taking place. Gajendra Singh committed suicide in Delhi. He hung himself from a tree. The central government and AAP govt are responsible for this suicide.”
Venkaiah Naidu responded and said, “We should all collectively put our minds together on the series of farmer suicides that have taken place in India over the years.”
